A six-person workshop that hates the phrase "let's just reinstall and see"
DiagPoint started in 2016 as two engineers fixing laptops for friends and neighbours in the evenings. There are six of us now, we work every day, and we have run more than fourteen thousand diagnostics — but the approach hasn't changed: understand the cause, then fix it.
The rules we work by
There are four, and each came out of a mistake — ours or someone else's.
Diagnosis before repair
Reinstalling the system "just in case" isn't a repair, it's a way of hiding the problem. If the drive is failing, a clean install buys you a month. We look for the cause even when it takes longer.
Plain language, no jargon
Our reports don't say "NAND degradation". They say "the drive is 71% worn, replace it within six months, your files are fine for now".
We don't upsell
If a cleanout solves it, we won't pitch you a $400 upgrade. Engineers here aren't paid a cut of sales — only for work completed.
Data outranks hardware
Hardware can be bought again; a family photo archive can't. So every operation on a drive starts with a copy.
